Miami, August, 2006 – PerfectLaw® Software, developed by Executive Data Systems, Inc., has released two critical elements for legal software specific to IP firms: (1) Case Art KM and (2) PAIR Reconciliation. 

With the new Case Art Knowledge Management (KM) feature for IP, firms can now keep an entry for each patent, publication, application or other supporting information required for submission with the Information Disclosure Statement (IDS).  This feature, when combined with the other areas of PerfectLaw®, allow firms to quickly merge the IDS with all information contained in the Case Art KM and save/profile the merged statement as a PDF or Word document for future reference and e-filing. PerfectLaw® also provides document assembly and e-filing with the PTO and PCT for common patent and trademark forms

With the PAIR Reconciliation feature, PerfectLaw® can now reconcile the firm’s IP docketing database with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) PAIR services database. PAIR, the Patent Application Information Retrieval system, displays real-time information regarding the status of patent applications.  PublicPAIR displays only issued or published application statuses and PrivatePAIR provides secure real-time access to pending application status and history for all actions taken by the USPTO for a given application.  Users simply login to the PAIR website and download recent PTO events for their files. PerfectLaw® then reconciles these events with the firm’s in-house Docketing database and updates the SQL server.  Users can then print the Perfectlaw®/PAIR Reconciliation report to find discrepancies between the firm’s docketing records and those of the PTO.  This report automatically alerts the firm of lost correspondence and/or bad data ultimately reducing docketing errors.
